Course Description:
This 2-day certification course presented by ELITE Aesthetic Medical Training teaches participants everything they need to know about cosmetic lasers and light based systems. After a comprehensive overview of laser history, laser physiology, and laser parameters, a detailed discussion about the laser and light-based systems on the market (including the application of radio-frequency) will allow the participant to identify the ‘must-haves' of a system. This is meant to ensure you can deliver optimal results and best suit the needs of your practice. From laser safety, preventative measures, pre-and post treatment instructions, contraindications, side effects and the management of client selection, client education, administrative requirements, legal issues, charting, treatment records, and documentation requirements, the participant will learn how to effectively develop the best protocols and procedures and market them effectively! The instructor will provide skin analysis and skin typing insight and hands-on knowledge in laser hair removal, skin rejuvenation, skin tightening, wrinkle reduction, acne treatment, treatment of varicose veins, and the non-surgical facelift. The participant will receive the necessary tools to excel.
Course Objectives:
- The participant will:
- Learn about laser history, laser classification, laser physiology and tissue interaction, and laser parameters such as wavelengths, pulse duration, spot size, optical energy etc.
- Learn about laser safety, preventative measures, administrative requirements, and regulative entities for laser safety, pre-and post-treatment instruction, laser treatment contraindications, side effects and the management thereof.
- Learn the pros and cons of the laser-and light-based systems on the market today, including CO2 (Feather Touch, Ultra), Ebrium Yag, Plasma, Fractional (Fraxel), Ebrium YSGG, Long-pulsed Yag (CoolTouch, Lyra), Pulsed Light (IPL's, Photoderm), Radiofrequency (Thermage®), Elos Technology, Q-switched Ruby, Pulsed dye laser (Candela), Long-pulsed Alexandrite laser (GentleLASE, CoolPulse).
- Learn to identify what system is right for your practice, taking into account your goals and practice needs, as well as those of your target clients.
- Learn to understand patient/client selection, client education, charting, treatment records, and documentation requirements.
- Learn to customize the most effective treatment protocols and procedures to optimize client results and prevent adverse reactions.

Learn how to prepare for treatment, including the use of safety-goggles, effective use of conductive gel, how to do spot testing, and how to prevent adverse reactions.
